Yamaha KT100J - Rookie Class
Tyres: Dunlop SL1
Children 10-12 years. This class is a transition class between midget & Junior classes. Once again a restrictor plate is used in the exhaust having a 16mm diameter hole to limit engine output. Tyres used are SL1.
Yamaha KT100J - Junior National Class
Tyres: Dunlop SL1
Ages 12-16 years. Chassis are usually Junior chassis having a shorter wheelbase, however some go straight to using a senior chassis which carries a slight weight penalty but eliminates a chassis update later down the track. Tyres are Dunlop SL1 and this class is relatively cheap to run at club level.
Yamaha KT100J - Senior national
Tyres: Dunlop SL1
Ages 16 & above. Engines do not have restrictor plates and still use Dunlop SL1 tyres. This class provides close competition as all karts are closely matched and the lower output of the engine requires the development of a smooth driving style to maintain good cornering speeds. This class is still the most economical Senior class to compete. Engine modification and generally the lower output means engineslast longer between rebuilds.
