Comer S-80 - Midget class
Engines: Comer or Yamaha KT100J
For 7-11 year olds this class offers a great training ground for our younger budding drivers. Chassis are less sophisticated and although the Yamaha is eligible, most use the Comer engine which is extremely reliable and user friendly having a pull start and a centrifugal clutch. This allows the kart to remain stationary while the engine idles then starts moving as the driver depresses the accelerator. This means there is no pushing the kart to get it started……very handy for the parent when the child spins out on the other side of the track. For those using the Yamaha engine, a restrictor plate in the exhaust must be used having a 13.02mm diameter hole to limit engine output.
Tyres are Dunlop SL1's which are cheap & long lasting. The rear tyres are the same as the front which once again reduces costs a little.
